He also taught Croc not to be afraid of bats. Batman confronted and beat Croc before moving on to find Scarecrow, who was about to slaughter Cardinal O'Fallon. Scarecrow tried to flee in his van after spraying a Batman impostor with his gas, but the real Batman apprehended Crane and tied him up alongside the impostors for police to arrest. When Bane took control of Gotham, he released Judge Crane and the other inmates of Blackgate Prison.
