The Fox Cities Foxes joined the IllinoisâIndianaâIowa League, often referred to as the ThreeâI League, in 1958 as the Washington Senators' Class B affiliate. [3] [4] They played their home games at Appleton's Goodland Field. [5] Appleton Baseball Club, Inc., a non-stock and nonprofit organization, owned and operated this team. This corporation, which was governed by a volunteer board of directors, continued to own and run the franchise until 2020. [1]On April 27, 1958, the Foxes played their maiden game on the road against the Davenport DavSox, winning 9-2. [6] Their first home game was a 6â0 victory against the Cedar Rapids Braves on May 3. [7] The Foxes' connection with the Senators terminated after two seasons, during which they had a 115â140 record. [4]
The majority of clubs play their home games in a single stadium, however there are annual and yearly exceptions.
For example, in 2017, the fourth annual "Jackie Robinson Celebration Game" was held at Holman Stadium in Vero Beach, FL, with the St. Lucie Mets hosting the visiting Florida Fire Frogs. The game drew a crowd of 6,849.
