The Old Rectory Hotel Crickhowell

We are thrilled to inform that our beloved Old Rectory Hotel has survived many lockdowns and severe revenue loss over the previous couple of years. From the outset, our goal has been to create the safest possible client experience. Because The Old Rectory is reserved solely for our resident guests, you will only come into touch with a limited number of other like-minded individuals while living here. Each evening, you are assured an outstanding four-course supper prepared by our great chef, Thomas Frost, in a very secure environment. At The Old Rectory, we have been fortunate to receive financial assistance from our bankers, which has ensured our future in the wake of Covid-19. Unfortunately, many firms in the hospitality sector have faced an uncertain future, and several of our industry colleagues have perished. We are tremendously lucky to have a highly engaged and devoted client base, as well as a company sturdy enough to get the capital necessary to weather the storm.

The hotel is located in Llangattock, a charming town located near the bigger community of Crickhowell in Wales' renowned Brecon Beacons national park. The region, renowned for its natural beauty, draws millions of visitors each year eager to explore the enormous environment. There are several outdoor activities to enjoy, like hiking and cycling, as well as castles and canals to explore. The Monmouthshire & Brecon canal is easily accessible from the grounds; visitors may walk for kilometers in either direction, and the hotel serves customers frequently who use this path.

Nice roomy room, if a touch antiquated, with a large spa bath but unable to be used as a shower due to the lack of support for the shower head and the resultant puddles all over the floor when used by hand. The personnel was courteous and helpful, albeit at times it seemed as if they were understaffed. The meal was mostly nice, however I was perplexed to have creamed cockles (supposedly a local delicacy) with a vegetarian breakfast. As a pescatarian, I was ready to give it a shot, but I'm sure vegetarians would be less than thrilled. I had never had creamed cockles before and was intrigued. Continue reading
